Sonoma Valley Film Festival - 2006
What could be better - food, wine and cinema - all together in scenic Sonoma Valley! This year marked the 9th year of this intimate festival experience. My visit was too short but I managed to see a couple of films worth mentioning:
The World According To Sesame Street - ****
An inspirational documentary that followed the Sesame Street franchise as it expanded into Kosovo, Bangladesh and South Africa, adapting its programming to each cultural setting and clearly connecting with the young audiences it set out to reach.
Kinky Boots - ****
Reminiscent of The Full Monty given its rural British setting and 'feel-good' nature, this film follows the creative rebirth of a dying shoe factory. A fun two hours.
Last Stop for Paul - ***
A traveler's travel movie, Last Stop for Paul follows two guys on a mission as they travel the world with minimal funds posing as travel writers for Frommers.
